And it would be a hell of a lot more interesting than what we have.

PTPPull the Pockethttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05082676049275768769noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8560898823512627114.post-23697865444093622972011-03-14T19:18:44.699-04:002011-03-14T19:18:44.699-04:00Davies' blog is a good read. Read the articles; the bha is quoted as gospel in the majority of them.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8560898823512627114.post-37395570957643065042011-03-14T10:06:10.473-04:002011-03-14T10:06:10.473-04:00Watching the UK situation is like watching a car w...Watching the UK situation is like watching a car wreck. I suggested that it would be in the long-term benefit of the track to develop a series of races which likely would, over time, become a focal point for owners and trainers from around the country who were affiliated with relevant runners. I proposed a specific category (two-year-old turf), and parsed out how such a division might be developed into an interesting and important alternative to the all-consuming KY Derby track.

Needless to say, my idea was politely rejected, as, coupled with a predictable lack of imagination, there didn't appear to the owner to be any incentive to try something innovative.

That racetrack, along with all American venues but Tampa Bay Downs, has since seen its quality of racing decline sharply. Even its long-standing signature races have lost much of their caché value as other, similar events have sprouted up on the calendar both in the U.S. and around the world.Tinkynoreply@blogger.com
