“There are only two Group I-type races left for three-year-olds anywhere in the world. One of them is the Breeders Crown, which we probably can’t win, and the other one is that race over there. It will give him a little bit of European exposure. He’s the No. 2 horse, but he doesn’t have as much visibility to a lot of people.”
That is called respect. A respect that no other trotter I have ever seen in my day has received.

Yes, it is certainly a matter of respect for Muscle Hill, but Explosive Matter heading to Italy is also a bold move. As I mentioned on my blog, Explosive Matter is giving up a sure second place finish and winnings of $125,000 (face it, this year a Muscle Hill - Explosive Matter exacta is almost as certain as Muscle Hill winning) to race across the pond where there are obstacles to overcome. Explosive Matter's connections deserve the credit for heading overseas.
