Congrats to the connections for a glorious run with the filly. It is so difficult in this day and age to have them on their toes, healthy and sound each and every race. Takter and crew pulled it off for 22 straight trips behind the gate, at a dozen or more racetracks, in two countries. That's pretty amazing, and nothing to hang your head about.

See You at Peelers Win Streak Ends
It's bound to happen sooner or later to virtually any horse. They throw in a bad one. See You at Peelers was looking like an easy winner until the top of the stretch (she even had the pocket horse gapped out, just like she usually does), when whatever was not right with her, kicked in. She was badly defeated, coming sixth.
She dodged a bullet where she came home slow at the Meadowlands a month ago in a slow time, but fortuitously hung on. Today there was no such luck. She was pushed much more than her last near miss, and could not even muster a check.

I'm not sure there was something wrong with her today. She got stung pretty bad in the first quarter.
I realize it is all subjective but Idyllic raced a monster mile making a move 3/8th of a mile in and racing uncovered on the outside until the stretch in some brisk fractions. I think she deserves credit for her effort.
That said, thanks to See You At Peelers for putting racing on the sports pages. I expect to see her back in the winners circle again; just not in the Jug.

Pacingguy: Horse's like her don't get stung in 26.1 and come sixth. She has been stung three high in 26 a couple of times in her career. She won easily.
Idyllic has proven to be a nice 3yo filly. Somebody once said she wouldn't make 100K as a 3yo after banking over 800K as a 2yo. I like horses like Idyllic. They show up every race and perform. Not as brilliant as SYAP, but a hard-knocking stakes type for sure.
Last half 58.1, last quarter 30 seconds. Everyone has a bad day.
There's been one poster who comes out whenever someone is not 100% correct on this blog.
I wonder if we should pull out the archives for Blaine's thoughts on Somebeachsomewhere. Should we?
Phil
Phil,
I win some, and I lose some. Blaine can make fun of me, because I have a blog and it comes with the territory :)
Idyllic looked terrible early, hot and bothered, no hood and stumbled home a beaten horse a couple of times. I posted earlier that she and Pretty K (I thought) would have a very tough year.
She's been settled and looks much better. I thought last week (when she was really fighting it late) she would be close to finished - but wrong again.
I chucked her off my tickets today. If she was no good, it would have been a nice score, as I liked and bet, Burke and Swinging Beauty.
I am blaming the loss on the high takeout!
PTP
I never knocked SBSW. If I can recall correctly, PTP loved SBSW so much that he was concerned that Dewey might win HOY in 2008 and was on a mission to question Dewey's accomplishments and competition. I merely chose to defend Dewey. Having said that, SBSW was a pacing freak of nature and a DESERVING 2008 HOY. It's all good ya'll. Ain't nothing wrong with healthy debate and difference in opinions. Peace. Blaine
