How often do you see $14800 bet on a 40-1 shot to show? When the nine horse is the 1-5 shot and someone hit a button wrong one would guess. Wow, what a mistake (screen shot of race 4 for Woodbine above).

Sinking marketing money directly into the horseplayer by seeding pools is effective, in both theory and practice In Ontario and elsewher...

I just checked and the bet was never canceled. I'm thinking it was probably a $14,500 bet. The person who made the bet must have turned pale green when he either tried to cash the ticket or he checked his account balance after the race.
Anyone that makes a bet like that on a young trotter is a moron to begin with, so no surprise the mistake was made.
I saw this happen at least one other time this year, when the fave won and you had the same BJ prices for place-show only.
What's REALLY unusual is that the 14,500 failed to increase the winner's "rock-bottom" show price!

That's one of the most visible differences with "net pool" pricing -- longshot place and show payoffs don't get cannabalized by overwhelming favorites.
